SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Freshman
Bella Bucy tossed a complete game shutout in game two as the IUP softball team split a cross-divisional doubleheader at Shippensburg Tuesday.
It was a low-scoring day with Shippensburg winning the opener 2-1 before Bucy and the Crimson Hawks won game two by a score of 3-0.
IUP ends the day with an overall record of 10-8 on the year. Today's games were the first non PSAC West contests of the year for the Hawks, who are 9-7 in divisional play.

Game one
Neither team could do much until the fourth inning when Shippensburg used a leadoff double to score the opening run of the game. The Raiders added another in the fifth on a two-out RBI singles.
The Hawks got one back in the sixth, when
Ashley Renzi singled up the middle to score
Amanda Fischer from second with two outs. IUP ended up stranding two and went down 1-2-3 in the seventh.
Hope Jones and Fischer combined to strike out five and give up just four hits and one earned run in six innings.
Game two
The Crimson Hawks scored first, with a
Kaitlyn Beers single leading to a run after a Shippensburg throwing error.
The Raiders put runners on in each of the first two innings, but Bucy worked through and kept four runners stranded. She then set down Shippensburg 1-2-3 in the third, fourth, and fifth innings, preserving a 1-0 lead.
Renzi came through in the seventh, driving a two-out single to score both Beers and
Faith Jones to go up 3-0.
Bucy finished the game strong, setting the Raiders down 1-2-3 again in the seventh to finish off her first career shutout.
Up next
The Crimson Hawks return to divisional play this weekend with a four-game set against Pitt-Johnstown. Action starts Friday afternoon at Podbielski Field.
