INDIANA, Pa. - The IUP women's tennis team clinched at least a share of a PSAC West regular season title as the Crimson Hawks defeated visiting Cal U 6-1 at the Maple Street Courts Wednesday afternoon.
This is the second division title in program history, following the first in 2018. The Crimson Hawks have won two PSAC tournament titles, first in 2017 and then again 2018.
Today's win was the sixth straight for IUP, which improved to 7-2 overall and 5-0 in division play. The Vulcans fell to 1-5 and 1-3.
The Crimson Hawks picked up wins at the top two doubles spots, including a 6-0 victory by Karolin KIrchtag and
Katy Graydon at No. 2.
Idoia Huerta and
Lydia Vlachou earned a 6-1 win at No. 1.
The easy wins kept coming in singles play, with IUP giving up just four games in the top five spots. Graydon at three and Vlachou at four each won by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Graydon's win was her team-best eighth straight.
Also winning were Huerta at two 6-2, 6-0 and
Abby Jones at five 6-1, 6-0.
