JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The IUP baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Pitt-Johnstown Friday afternoon. The Crimson Hawks lost by scores of 14-0 and 10-6.
IUP is now 1-17 overall and 0-10 in the PSAC West. The Mountain Cats are 11-7 overall and 7-3 in the division.
After just two base hits in the opening game, the Crimson Hawks had five extra base hits in game two alone.
Chris Eisel had the first big hit, hitting a solo home run in the top of the first inning to give IUP the lead. IUP added to its lead in the second inning, with
Jake Cherry and
Harrison Pontoli hitting back-to-back RBI singles to make it a 3-0 ballgame.Â
The Mountain Cats then put together a huge bottom half as they had eight base hits and took advantage of three hit by pitches and an IUP error to put up 10 runs.Â
IUP scratched away at the lead, first getting an RBI double by
Austin Mueller in the third. Caden Decroo had an RBI groundout in the fifth and
Nick Hess drove in another run with a triple in the sixth inning to close the gap to four runs. It was one of two triples in the game for Hess.Â

These two teams face off again Saturday with a doubleheader at Dougherty Field. First pitch is 1 p.m.
