ERIE, Pa. - The IUP women's lacrosse 2021 season ended in the quarterfinals of the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, a 16-4 loss at Mercyhurst Saturday evening.

Playing their fourth road game in six days, the Crimson Hawks ran out of gas and finished their season with a 6-6 overall record. IUP was making its eighth conference tournament appearance in the last 10 seasons.

Mercyhurst (10-3) got out to an early 5-0 lead less than 11 minutes into the contest. IUP stopped the run with two goals over a 1:10 span, with Kayte Zeiler and Leah Hunter scoring on assists from Jordan Kulp

The Lakers then scored nine straight through the middle of the second half, and then twice more in the last six minutes. Hunter scored her second goal with 9:33 to play and Chantal Jimenez added a goal with 1:26 to play.

The Crimson Hawks entered the postseason as the No. 3 seed in the PSAC West while the Lakers are the No. 2 seed in the division. Mercyhurst moves onto the semifinals to face divisional top seed Seton Hill.
