IUP Baseball swept in season finale

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The IUP baseball team dropped both ends of its season-ending doubleheader to Slippery Rock Saturday, losing by scores of 5-0 and 6-1 at Critchfield Park. 

The Crimson Hawks end their season with an overall record of 2-35, including a 1-27 PSAC West record. 

In the opener, Slippery Rock scored all five of its runs with two outs in the fourth inning. Chris Eisel had two of IUP's five hits in the game, while Austin Mueller and Harrison Pontoli each had doubles. Ben Hudock and Michael Perreault combined to throw three innings of scoreless ball in relieft. 

IUP struck first in game two, with Pontoli bringing Eisel in on a sac fly in the first inning. Eisel left off IUP's half of the inning with a triple and added two more hits in game two.

Slippery Rock scattered its scoring in the nightcap, bringing runs around in the second, fourth, and fifth innings. Five IUP pitchers combined to strike out seven batters and give up six hits in six innings of work.
