GREENSBURG, Pa. – IUP women's volleyball rallied for an exciting fourth-set victory and led early in the fifth, but couldn't hold on as Seton Hill defeated the Crimson Hawks in five sets Friday night at the McKenna Center.
Nicole Peterson was one of three Crimson Hawks with double-figure points, posting a team-best 14 kills and 15.5 points.
Caroline Walsh had seven kills and six total blocks while
Brooke Little added nine kills and two block assists. Defensively, libero
Bailey Flowerdew had a team-best 11 digs while Peterson had nine.
It was IUP's second loss to open up divisional play, falling to 7-8 overall and 0-2 in the PSAC West.
The Hawks grabbed momentum early with a 25-22 first set win. Seton Hill (6-4, 1-0 PSAC) rebounded with two straight wins of 25-18 and 25-16 to take control. IUP then overcame a 23-21 fourth set deficit to score five of the final six points, including a kill by Little, to win 26-24 to send the match to five.
IUP scored the first three points of the fifth and led 4-1, but Seton Hill rattled off nine straight to grab the lead before winning 15-8 to clinch.
Neither team hit over .200, as IUP tallied nine blocks while Seton Hill racked up 19 to force the Hawks into a .064 hitting percentage.

This was the first of a two-match weekend for the Crimson Hawks, who head east Saturday to play Shippensburg at 4 p.m.
