INDIANA, Pa. - Nicole Peterson and Grace Mangapora each had 24 kills while Brooke Little totaled 19 as the Crimson Hawks split their final two matches of the IUP Invitational on Saturday.

IUP defeated Frostburg State in straight sets in the afternoon before falling to Shepherd in a close four-set battle in the nightcap.

The Hawks wrapped up their season-opening weekend with a 3-2 overall record, including 2-2 in the tournament. Tusculum went 3-1 on the weekend to win the team title.

Hannah Simmons had 16 assists while Leah Henderson and Flowerdew had 20 and 17 digs, respectively. The Hawks won with scores of 25-22, 26-24 and 25-17.

First year IUP head coach Julie Torbett pushed through 450 career wins over the weekend. She came to IUP in the summer of 2020 with 447 victories in 26 Division I seasons, and officially hit 450 with three wins during an abbreviated and unorthodox spring 2021 campaign. Her three wins this weekend give her a 453-391 overall record.
