IUP ranked third in Super Region One rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The IUP football team was listed third in the Super Region One rankings, released by the NCAA DII Football Committee on Monday.

These rankings, released in numerical order for the first time on Monday, will determine the seven teams to advance to the NCAA DII playoffs. Shepherd (9-0) was listed first in the rankings, followed by Ashland (7-1) at two and IUP (7-1) at three.

Assumption (6-1) was ranked fourth with Slippery Rock (8-1) closing out the top five. Notre Dame (Ohio) (7-2) and Gannon (7-2) followed in sixth and seventh, respectively. New Haven (6-2), Bentley (6-2) and Concord (7-2) were listed eight through 10 in the regional rankings.

Super Region one consists of 48 teams from four conferences, including the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC), the Mountain East Conference (MEC), the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) and the Northeast 10 Conference (NE10), along with two independents.

The rankings will be released each Monday, leading up to the reveal of the playoff field on November 13. NCAA DII has a specific postseason process, which takes multiple factors into account. More information and a summary of the DII football playoff selection process can be found here.

IUP looks for a share of the PSAC West title and a spot in the conference championship game with a victory this week. The Crimson Hawks welcome Clarion for Senior Day at Miller Stadium on November 5 at 2:00 p.m.
