BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Crimson Hawks were back in action today for day 2 of the 2022 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships at Bloomsburg University. Both of IUPs doubles pairings fell short in the semifinals but Kirchtag had an excellent run in the singles draw reaching the final.
Kirchtag and Kmoskova faced the No. 4 seeds Dean and Murphy of Mercyhurst. After getting off to a slow start the Hawks battled back from 5-2 down to take the 8 game pro set to a tiebreak. Unfortunately, this didn't go IUPs way where they narrowly missed out 9-8 (4).
Graydon and Vlachou were looking to replicate their success from the ITA regional tournament but they were stopped in their paths by the No.3 seeds Del Val Del Toro and Martin Lopez of Slippery Rock 8-4.
Kmoskova couldn't quite get over the finish line today in her singles quarterfinal where she lost a three-set battle to the No.1 seed Dean of Mercyhurst 5-7, 6-0, 11-9.
Stralka dominated in her quarterfinal match defeating Martin Lopez of Slippery Rock 6-3, 6-0 but couldn't get past the No. 1 seed Dean in the semifinals losing 6-4, 6-2.
After a close first set Kirchtag pulled through her singles quarterfinal 7-5, 6-3 against Murphy of Mercyhurst. She continued her winning ways beating Del Val Del Toro of Slippery Rock 6-2, 7-5 to advance to the finals.
