LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The IUP football program landed 12 student-athletes on the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West teams, also hauling in a pair of major awards.
Duane Brown was named the PSAC West Offensive Player of the Year, while head coach
Paul Tortorella earned PSAC West Coach of the Year honors. Overall, IUP had eight selections on the First Team and four more on the Second Team.
Despite representing the West and winning the PSAC Championship, IUP was second in the league with 12 all-conference selections. The Crimson Hawks have garnered 84 total all-conference picks over the last five seasons.
Offensively, IUP placed five student-athletes on the First Team. Brown,
Dayjure Stewart,
Darrell Davis,
John Robinson and
Collin Pietropola were among the honorees. Defensively,
Gregory Moore II,
Drew DiNunzio-Biss and
Darius Bruce earned First Team laurels.
Grant Smith and
Hilton Ridley consisted of the All-PSAC Second Team selections on the offensive side of the ball, with
Raunya Mitchell and
Jaheim Howard earning recognition on defense.
Brown, a preseason All-American, continues climbing up the IUP record books in nearly every major statistical category with his third all-conference award. He is second in school history in total touchdowns (48), ranking four behind Michael Mann to tie the most all-time.
Tortorella is a two-time PSAC West Coach of the Year, helping guide the program to a 9-1 mark in 2022. He boasts an overall record of 47-10 with a 9-4 mark against ranked opponents.
It is the second all-conference award for Robinson, Bruce, Howard, Davis, Pietropola and Smith. Wednesday's announcement marks the first all-conference recognition for Stewart, Moore II, DiNunzio-Biss and Ridley.
IUP earned the top overall seed in NCAA Super Region One, securing a first-round bye. The Crimson Hawks will host a playoff game on Saturday, November 26 against either Ashland or Notre Dame (Ohio).
