GREENSBURG, Pa. - The 19th-ranked IUP women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to Carnegie Mellon Saturday afternoon at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
IUP fell to 3-2 overall with the loss.
The Hawks lost the doubles point with losses in each match, although the No. 3 pairing of
Laura Dunarova and
Lydia Vlachou narrowly dropped their match by a score of 7-6 (5).
IUP rallied in singles play, with No. 38
Natasha Munday cruising to a 6-2 6-1 victory at the third spot to tie the match at 1-1.
Joanna Stralka also won at the second spot by a score of 6-4, 6-2, but the Tartans took the remaining four singles spots to get the win.
Up next
IUP is back on the road next weekend to battle Division I opponent Bucknell on Saturday.
