GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Jenna Rhue blasted two home runs and
Jordan Sylvia had four extra base hits to help IUP softball put up 23 runs in a pair of wins on 2022 opening day. The Crimson Hawks ended both games early with 8-run rules, defeating Salem 15-7 in six innings and Shippensburg 8-0 in five.
Rhue hit both of her home runs in the game one win over Salem, finishing the contest 4-for-5. Sylvia finished the game 3-for-4 with a double and home run.
Bella Bucy picked up the shutout victory in the circle against Shippensburg, scattering five hits while walking one and strikeout one in five innings of work. The Crimson Hawks scored in each of the first four innings as four of their eight hits went for extra bases. Sylvia followed her game one performance by going 2-for-3 with two doubles and three RBI.
Paige Truax and
Anastasia Pappas each had doubles.
Up next
The Hawks continue their weekend in Glenville tomorrow with a 5 p.m. game against Shepherd. They'll finish up Sunday with a 9:30 a.m. first pitch against West Virginia Wesleyan.
