ORLANDO - The IUP women's tennis team wrapped up its challenging spring break trip with a 5-2 loss to 17th-ranked Tampa on Saturday afternoon.
The wins for the Crimson Hawks both came in singles play, with
Joanna Stralka and
Natasha Munday each taking down some of the top players in the country.
Stralka had her biggest win of the season, defeating 15th-ranked Maeva Roquebert in dramatic fashion with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot. Munday defeated Savannah Williams, Tampa's wins leader, at the No. 3 spot by a score of 6-3, 6-4.
Lydia Vlachou came close to a victory at No. 5, falling in three sets by a score of 6-3, 4-6. 10-5.
The Crimson Hawks head home with a 5-7 overall record. They return to action next Saturday, March 26 at home against Slippery Rock.
