OBERLIN, Ohio - The 19th-ranked IUP women's tennis team opened its weekend with a 9-0 victory over Oberlin Friday evening at the Heisman Field House.
It was the second straight win for the Crimson Hawks, who improved to 5-2 overall.Â
The Hawks cruised through doubles play, with the 10th-ranked pairing of
Karolin Kirchtag and
Katy Graydon winning 8-5 at No. 1 and the 14th-ranked pair of
Natasha Munday and
Joanna Stralka winning 8-3 at the No. 2 spot. At No. 3,
Laura Dunarova and
Lydia Vlachou won by a score of 8-4.
IUP switched up its singles lineup, with Stralka moving up to No. 1 to win 6-2, 6-1. Munday played at No. 2 and picked up her sixth straight victory with a 6-4, 6-1 win. Kirchtag played at No. 3 and won 6-2, 6-1 and Graydon won 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot. Finishing up the victory was
Lydia Vlachou at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-1 win at Dunarova at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-1 win.
IUP wraps up its Ohio trip with a Saturday afternoon match against Case Western in Cleveland.
