SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Renee Wall had a huge game two for the Crimson Hawks in a 6-5 victory as they split a PSAC crossover doubleheader at Shippensburg on Saturday afternoon. The Raiders won game one by a score of 6-1.
The Crimson Hawks are now 14-12 overall. Shippensburg is 22-14.
Wall finished the nightcap by going 4-for-4 with a triple, home run, and four RBI. She opened game two with a 3-run homer over the fence in left center after singles from
Joelle Snyder and
Allyssa Schmidt.
Shippensburg tied the game with a run in the second and two more in the fourth. Wall came through again in the fifth with a two-out triple to right center, bringing Snyder home to make it 4-3. The Hawks extended their lead in the sixth with two more runs.
Haleigh Zimmerman scored on an error and two batters later Snyder brought home
Faith Jones with a single to left center.
The Raiders threatened in the bottom of the seventh, scoring one run after a walk and two singles and later made it a 6-5 game with a sacrifice fly out. With the tying run on third, pitcher
Amanda Fischer got the final out and secured the win. She was credited with the win, tossing the final 3.2 innings while giving up two earned runs on three hits.
In addition to Wall's big game, Snyder finished 3-for-4 with two runs and an RBI.
Up next
The Hawks are in action next weekend and back to divisional games with a trip to Slippery Rock Friday and home games against Cal U on Saturday.
