IUP Athletics announces Hall of Fame Class for 2022

INDIANA, Pa. – The Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) Athletic Department announced its 11-member Hall of Fame Class of 2022.

The class is made up of nine former student-athletes, one coach, and one team that represent nine different sport programs and comprise the department's 26th induction class. New to this year's class is the Coach/Administrator and Team categories, with Tony Medvetz and the 1993 football team, respectively, being the first to be inducted.

The IUP Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2022:
  • Mark Bridge, track and field, 1998-2002
  • Rich Dahlgren, baseball, 1966-1970
  • Nafee Harris, track and field, 2007-2011 
  • Erin Holloway, softball, 2007-2011 
  • Shawn Kunes, football, 1987-1991
  • Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, football, 2006-2010
  • Kathy (Ewing) Tattiossain, cross country/track and field, 1983-1987 
  • Darryl Webb, basketball, 2007-2011
  • Katie Woodruff, swimming, 1991-1995
  • Tony Medvetz, tennis, 1999-2008 
  • 1993 Football Team
"We are very excited to announce our Hall of Fame induction class for 2022," said IUP Director of Athletics Todd Garzarelli. "Through their successes and contributions, these 10 individuals and one team have brought so much pride to our university, athletic department, and their respective sport programs, and they deserve to be celebrated this fall. 

"This is another excellent class of filled with so much talent and so many accomplishments, and I look forward to welcoming each of them into our Hall of Fame in September."

This year's Hall of Fame Class will be formally inducted Saturday, September 24 prior to the IUP football game against Mercyhurst. 

The new inductees bring the total to 302 former athletes, coaches and administrators, and teams who have made significant contributions to IUP athletics and have enhanced its image and reputation and are now enshrined in the IUP Athletics Hall of Fame.

1998-2002
2002 national champion in the javelin … Three-time All-American in the javelin ('99,'00,'02) … Still holds IUP record in the event at 237'02".

Rich Dahlgren
Baseball
1966-1970
Captain of 1969 team … NAIA District 18 and Western PA Collegiate All-Star in 1969 … Drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 30th round of 1969 amateur draft.

Nafee Harris
Track and Field
2007-2011
Four-time national champion in the long jump (2x indoor, 2x outdoor) … Seven-time All-American … 2010 Atlantic Region and PSAC Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year … PSAC and IUP record holder in the long jump … Ran IUP's second fastest 55m time during 2010s decade.

Erin Holloway
Softball
2007-2011
First team All-American, Atlantic Region and PSAC Central Pitcher of the Year in 2011 … Led IUP to program's first ever PSAC title and Division II World Series appearance … Graduated as school's all-time leader in every pitching category.

Shawn Kunes
Football
1987-1991
Three-time All-PSAC West selection on the offensive line … Part of team that reached 1990 Division II national title game and made back-to-back national semifinal appearances … Part of two PSAC title teams ('87,'90).

Akwasi Owusu-Ansah
Football
2006-2010
All-American as both a defensive back and all-purpose back in 2009 … Eight interceptions in 2008 … Seven career punt and kickoff return touchdowns … Selected by Dallas Cowboys in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL Draft … Won Grey Cup with CFL's Toronto Argonauts in 2017.

Kathy (Ewing) Tattiossain

All-American in the 1500 meters at 1986 NCAA Championships … Still holds IUP record in 1500 meters at 4:28.7 … 1986 PSAC Outdoor Championship Most Valuable Track Athlete … Part of 1985 cross country team that finished third at NCAA Championships.

Darryl Webb
Basketball
2007-2011
NABC Division II Player of the Year in 2011 … Two-time All-American … Led IUP to 2010 Division II title game, program's first … 2010 Atlantic Region Tournament MVP … Finished career as program's all-time leader in points (1,949), rebounds (1,214) and blocked shots (162).

Katie Woodruff

12-time All-American … Team captain in 1994-95 … Set IUP records in three individual events, five relays … PSAC Champion, conference record in 200 free relay … Five top-10 finishes in USA Swimming Long Course National Championships.
