GRANVILLE, Ohio - Karolin Kirchtag broke the IUP women's tennis record for singles wins in a season, highlighting a 7-0 victory for the Crimson Hawks over Denison Sunday afternoon.
Kirchtag tallied her 29th singles victory with a 7-5, 6-1 win at the No. 1 spot, breaking a tie with Claudia Menes (2015-16) at 28 victories. Kirchtag has an .853 win percentage in singles play at 29-5 this season, including an 18-3 mark in dual matches and 11-2 in tournament play. Kirchtag is also 11-2 at the No. 1 singles spot in dual play. Today's win was her 10th straight, as she hasn't lost since IUP returned from its spring break trip in March.
The victory for the Crimson Hawks was their 10th in a row, also going undefeated since returning North in March. The PSAC West regular season champs with a perfect 6-0 divisional record, the Hawks head into the postseason with a 15-7 overall mark.
In addition to Kirchtag's victory, other singles winners included
Joanna Stralka 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2,
Natasha Munday 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3,
Katy Graydon 6-4, 6-0 at No, 4,
Lydia Vlachou 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5, and
Laura Dunarova 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.
IUP also swept all three doubles matches to get the first point of the afternoon. Munday and Stralka paired at No. 1 for a 6-4 win, Kirchtag and Graydon won 6-3 at No. 2, and Dunarova and Vlachou won 6-2 at No. 3.

By virtue of their PSAC West regular season title and No. 1 seed, the Hawks receive a quarterfinal bye in the PSAC tournament and advance to the conference championship weekend at Bloomsburg University. IUP is looking for its fourth PSAC tournament championship, all coming since 2017.
