WASHINGTON, Pa. - The IUP women's tennis team returned to the courts with a resounding 6-1 neutral court victory over West Liberty Monday afternoon.
It was the first action for the Crimson Hawks in more than two weeks with three matches postponed multiple times due to weather since then.
The Hawks improved to 6-7 overall with the win, including 2-0 in regional play. West Liberty fell to 7-4 overall.
IUP won the doubles with a pair of match wins and then took five of six singles matches.
Laura Dunarova and
Lydia Vlachou were the first to win with a 6-2 victory No. 3.
Joanna Stralka and
Natasha Munday followed with a 6-3 win at No. 1.Â
In singles play, West Liberty led off with a win at No. 1 before the Hawks reeled off five straight victories.
Katy Graydon was the first to win, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 4. Munday followed at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory while Dunarova won 6-1, 7-5 at No. 6, Vlachou won 6-4, 7-6 (4) at No. 5, and
Karolin Kirchtag finished things off with a 7-6 (5), 6-3 win at No. 2.Â
