INDIANA, PA - Quarterback Mak Sexton threw for 339 yards and two touchdowns and the IUP offense totaled 552 yards as the Crimson Hawks blew out Shippensburg 44-21 on the road Saturday.
The win was the second straight for the Hawks, making them 2-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) putting them ahead of rival Cal U (PA) who are 1-2.
IUP scored in every quarter, putting up 28 points in the first half and 16 in the second, letting the Hawks command over the Raiders throughout the game. The scoring kicked off right away with two touchdowns scored by Adam Houser and Dayjure Stewart within the first seven minutes of the game.
Sexton threw to Hilton Ridley for a 24 yard touchdown in the Raiders end zone. Shippensburg couldn't seem to connect passes which let Jaheim Howard intercept the ball at the Shippensburg 47 with a return of 47 yards to the SHIP0.
After two touchdowns from Shippensburg, the Hawks clapped back with a safety for two points followed by another Dayjure Stewart TD with a rush of 36 yards into the end zone ending the third.
In the final quarter of the game, Sexton threw again to Hilton Ridley for a 28 yard touchdown. Shippensburg had the last touchdown of the game, making it 44-21 Hawks.
A true standout was grad transfer quarterback, Mak Sexton. Mak is the first quarterback in IUP history to throw for 300-plus yards in his first two starts, he threw for 360 yards against East Stroudsburg and 339 against Shippensburg.

The Crimson Hawks have their first home game of the season on Saturday September 24th at 4 PM against the Mercyhurst Lakers. Mercyhurst will be coming off of a loss to Kutztown, the final being 50-31. This will be their fourth match up of the season, making the Lakers record 2-1 while the Hawks sit at 2-0.
