INDIANA, Pa. – With the undefeated IUP basketball programs returning home for the first time during the 2023 calendar year, the department of athletics has announced several promotions for the doubleheaders on Wednesday, January 4 and Saturday, January 7 at the KCAC.
The 11-0 IUP men's basketball team, under the direction of head coach
Joe Lombardi, enters the new year ranked number one in NCAA DII in both major polls. In celebration of the program's first number one ranking since the mid-1990s, the department is offering all general admission seats for the January 4 doubleheader against Seton Hill for just $1.
Wednesday's doubleheader marks the start of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West play for the Crimson Hawks, who enter the new year with a combined mark of 21-0. The women's basketball program, coached by first-year bench boss
Craig Carey, concluded a 10-0 portion of the 2022 schedule ranked seventh in the D2SIDA Top 25.
The First Commonwealth Bank Box Office at the KCAC reopens at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3 for tickets to the January 4 doubleheader. All $1 general admission tickets for the Seton Hill doubleheader, which begins at 5:30 p.m., must be purchased in person at the box office.
Wednesday's doubleheader marks the first home contests for IUP since December 19.
Later in the week, IUP takes on Mercyhurst on Saturday, January 7. The department will celebrate Indiana School District day at the KCAC for the doubleheader beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Complimentary general admission seats will be distributed throughout the Indiana School District for the matchups against the Lakers, courtesy of an anonymous donor. Tickets can be secured by contacting IASD Director of Athletics Dan Roan on Tuesday, January 3.
