IUP women’s tennis wins six matches on Sunday at fall invitational

INDIANA, Pa. -- Concluding a successful home weekend, the IUP women's tennis team won six of seven matches on Sunday as part of day two at the IUP Fall Invitational, held at Maple Street Courts.

For the weekend, IUP won 14 matches across a busy two-day stretch.

Ming Deewajee, Lina Teleshun and Hannah Beitat all won singles contests on Sunday. In doubles action, Dewajee and Dani Ramos continued their success, as did the pairings of Katy Graydon/Lydia Vlachou and Teleshun/Beitat.

"Another brilliant day on the Maple Street Courts," IUP head coach Andrew McGlashen said. "A massive win for the freshman team of Hannah and Lina to take down a very talented Morgan State duo."

Deewajee battled back from one set down for a 2-6, 7-6 (5), 10-5 triumph against Morgan State's Averiana Mitchell. Teleshun added a 7-6 (2), 6-1 singles victory against Aleksandra Evdokimova of Morgan State. Beitat rounded out the individual victories for the Crimson Hawks with a 6-1, 6-4 win against Iva Jankovic.

In doubles, Beitat and Teleshun gutted out a 7-6 (4) win against the Morgan State pairing of Lauryn Hall and Averiana Mitchell. Deewajee and Ramos rolled to a 6-0 win against Stefania Moysiadi and Jianna Benton (Salem).

Team leaders Vlachou and Graydon handled Salem's Daria Korsakova and Averiana Mitchell with a 6-1 victory.

"The ladies are showing how tightly bonded they've become as a team on and off the court," McGlashen continued. "The captains are outdoing themselves."
