JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Pitt-Johnstown opened the floodgates in the second half in dispatching IUP by a 3-1 tally on Wednesday afternoon.
 
While Pitt-Johnstown (2-8-4, 2-7-3) held the edge in shots over the initial 45 minutes, the Mountain Cats did not put a chance on frame until the final minute of the half. Meanwhile, IUP (4-6-3, 3-6-2) placed two of its three chances on goal in the first half.
 
UPJ eventually broke through, led by two goals from Sophia Lamesta and another from Haley Neidig, who dealt out two assists for the contest. The Mountain Cats converted in the 51st, 62nd and 65th minutes.
 
IUP closed out the scoring with 
Maddy Orr posting her second goal of the season from 
Emma Hays with just over 30 seconds left.
 
Orr forced a save from UPJ keeper Parker Grimm earlier in the 26th minute before Chloe Thoericht had a sliding chance denied in the 28th minute.
 
Berlin denied Rylee Fry's center-cut chance late in the opening half. UPJ opened the second half with Lydia Roman pushing a chance high before 
Taylor Serrano and 
Julia Csernyik had chances blocked.
 
UPJ raced ahead off the corner kick opportunity for IUP, playing the ball off to the right before crossing it back into the box on a give-and-go look for a header tally from Neidig in the 51st minute.
 
Belle Garzarelli countered back with a scoring look for IUP in the 58th minute, zipping the chance wide right. UPJ eventually doubled its lead as Lemesta capitalized from just outside the eight-yard box in 62nd minute.
 
Lamesta found the net for the second time in the contest in the 65th minute as UPJ expanded its lead to a comfortable 3-0 margin.
