IUP women’s soccer wraps up season at Gannon

ERIE, Pa. – IUP women's soccer closed out the 2023 season with a 5-0 setback to Gannon on Friday in Erie.
 
IUP concludes the season at 5-9-4 and 4-9-3 in the PSAC. Meanwhile, playoff-bound Gannon improves to 13-3-2 and 13-2-1 in league play.
 
Gannon scored early and often, including consecutive goals under one minute apart in the first half to take control of the game. Logan Nicklas scored twice for GU, while three other goal scorers got on the board for the hosts.
 
IUP recorded three shots on the day with two coming from Kristen Finnerty and another from Julia Csernyik. Vanessa Berlin made four saves in about 70 minutes of action, while Makenna Yarrow added two saves in 21 minutes of relief duty.
 
Brooklyn Respecki opened the game with her 11th goal of the season for Gannon in the 11th minute. She finished with one goal and two assists on the day.
 
Grace Emmanel added her 11th goal of the campaign in the 35th minute, quickly followed by a Logan Nicklas tally, pushing GU ahead 3-0 at the half. The Knights continued pouring it on with Nicklas finishing off her fifth goal of the year in the 69th minute.
 
Paige Taylor finished off a set piece opportunity in the 78th minute and rounded out the scoring for Gannon.
