No. 41 IUP finish regular season on a high note; rolls past West Liberty

INDIANA, Pa. – A challenging nonconference slate for IUP women's tennis paid dividends near the final portion end of the season as the team used an outstanding stretch run to finish 11-9 overall, capped by an impressive 6-1 win against West Liberty on Saturday at Maple Street Courts.

IUP won 10 of its final 11 matches, which includes a big win against the Hilltoppers (11-6) on Saturday. Entering the weekend, IUP was second in the NCAA DII Atlantic Region rankings, slotting just ahead of fourth-ranked West Liberty.

The Crimson Hawks continued their success in doubles play, sweeping all three flights to open up a quick 1-0 edge in the regional showdown. IUP rolled up wins in five of the six singles matchups, with Natalie Kmoskova providing the clinching point with her 6-2, 6-2 triumph against Evelina Martirosyan.

Kmoskova concluded a 2-0 day after partnering with Joanna Stralka for a hard-fought 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles. Karolin Kirchtag won an extended first set via tiebreaker before taking control in a 6-2 victory to claim the No. 1 singles matchup.
