PREVIEW: Crimson Hawks return to Bloomsburg for PSAC Championship

INDIANA, Pa. - The top seeded IUP women's tennis team (11-9, 6-0 PSAC West) heads to Bloomsburg University for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship April 22-23.

The Crimson Hawks earned a bye in the quarterfinal round and face Millersville on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The Marauders knocked off Bloomsburg in the PSAC Quarterfinals on Thursday, setting up the PSAC Semifinal clash this weekend.

West Chester (9-7, 7-0 PSAC) nabbed the No. 1 east seed, granting them a bye during the quarterfinal round as well. The winner of the semifinals will play for the PSAC Championship title on April 23 at 10 AM.

>>  IUP is making the program's 17th all-time PSAC tournament appearance, including its 12th straight dating back to 2011. Due to the pandemic, the 2020 PSAC Championships were canceled.
>> The Hawks are seeking their third straight and fifth conference title since 2017. IUP made nine straight appearances in the championship match, finishing as runners-up each year from 2011-16 before winning conference titles in 2017, 2018 and 2022.
>> IUP finished the season strong and secured the program's third consecutive PSAC West regular season crown.
>> The Crimson Hawks enter the tournament as the two-time defending champions.
>> Kirchtag is 21-7 overall in singles action this season, adding a 19-7 mark in doubles action.
>> Stralka is a two-time PSAC West Tennis Athlete of the Week, coming on March 27 and April 3. Kirchtag was also awarded the weekly conference honor on April 17.
>> IUP won 10 of its final 11 matches in the regular season, with the only setback coming to then No. 20 Charleston (W.Va.), the team sitting first in the Atlantic Region rankings.
>> IUP posted a perfect 6-0 mark in conference action, extending the team's winning streak in conference matches to 19 straight, dating back to the 2019-20 season.
>> The Hawks are currently No. 2 in the NCAA Atlantic Region rankings, released Tuesday.
