Baseball Shutout 5-0, Comes Back To Hit Six Doubles In 9-4 Win For Split

INDIANA, Pa. – The Indiana University of Pennsylvania baseball program had a Jekyll and Hyde experience in its home doubleheader on Monday, being no-hit through the first six innings of game one before exploding for six extra-base hits through four in the second contest as it won the four-game home-and-home set with Slippery Rock, 3-1.

Davin Landers continued his torrid hitting streak, batting .571 (4-for-7) with a two-RBI double and a run scored, breaking up the no-hitter in the opener.

Harrison Pontoli must have been angry after pulling an 0-fer in the first matchup, taking it out on The Rock pitchers to the tune of a 3-of-3 nightcap in which he swiped two bases, hit a two-bagger, walked, and scored.

Peyton Johnson decided he was tired of hitting the ball inside the field of play, eliminating the middleman with a two-run home run as well as a RBI-single, a base on balls plus two scores.

Elijah Dunn followed Johnson's lead with a solo shot of his own while reaching on all three of his plate appearances and Au'sean Owens collected three hits, a steal, and two runs scored.

Derrick Shields was the winning pitcher, hurling five innings of four-run ball, matching every run he allowed with a strikeout.

Paul Tripi made sure there would be no comeback in the visitors' future, getting the final six outs with just one runner ceded as all of his outs came in the air.

Thanks to Mother Nature, the Crimson Hawks will play their fifth and sixth games in the past three days on Tuesday afternoon when they host Lock Haven for a twin bill.
