GREENSBURG, Pa. – The second-seeded and 43rd-ranked IUP women's tennis team advanced in the NCAA DII Atlantic Region Tournament following a 4-0 win against Shaw in the opening round of action here Monday at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
IUP posted its sixth consecutive victory, advancing to tomorrow's regional final in Wexford. A win tomorrow hands the Crimson Hawks their fifth regional title since 2017, facing the winner of Slippery Rock/Fairmont State.
IUP breezed past the doubles portion of the matchup with
Karolin Kirchtag and
Katy Graydon nabbing a 6-0 victory in the No. 1 flight.
Lydia Vlachou and
Laura Dunarova closed out the doubles point with a 6-1 victory.
Joanna Stralka and
Natalie Kmoskova were up 4-2 in the second doubles flight as the match was unfinished.
In singles, Vlachou rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Hafsa Sanhaji at the number five flight. Kirchtag followed with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph before Graydon clinched the match with her 6-2, 6-4 victory.
