INDIANA, Pa. – The Indiana University of Pennsylvania baseball program ended the regular season in comeback fashion, entering the final frame trailing 6-4 but rallying behind a pair of leadoff walks, a two-RBI double, and the game-winner in a 7-6 come-from-behind triumph.
Indiana (PA) had only six base hits, all singles, heading into the ninth inning, but both of the base knocks in that last ditch effort were two-baggers by
Peyton Johnson and the hero,
Branden Kanick.
Kanick was the lone Crimson Hawk with a multi-hit outing and Johnson drove home a pair, scored twice, and drew two free passes.
Cooper Baxter was absolutely phenomenal, tossing three innings of scoreless ball with just a hit and a walk surrendered while
Wyatt Westendorf snagged the win.
Both
Zach Miller and
Andrew Sicinski drove in an RBI plus two walks drawn apiece,
Harrison Pontoli coaxed a pair of free passes, and
Colton Burd saw two ball fours reach the catcher's mitt as the home nine drew a season-most 13 walks, five more than the previous-high.
IUP will be the fourth seed out of the West in the PSAC Tournament as the ten-team field starts play on Wednesday.
