BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The IUP women's tennis doubles pairing of
Ming Deewajee and
Dani Ramos advanced to the doubles finals at the ITA Atlantic Region Championships, hosted by Bloomsburg on Saturday.
The duo defeated Amanda Mendez Thomasson and Tuva Wallin from West Virginia State by a 6-1 margin to move onto tomorrow's doubles final. They will face the Mercyhurst pairing of Kayla Dean and Roisin Murphy.
Deewajee fell to top overall seed Prinkle Singh (Charleston) in the singles portion of the bracket in the quarterfinal round, falling 6-4, 2-6, 6-10 in three sets. Elsewhere in the singles docket,
Katy Graydon dropped a matchup to Mercyhurst's Daria Rogova. Singh and Dean will square off for the singles crown tomorrow morning, each winning their semifinal matchups.
"Ming and Dani will play for a regional championship tomorrow," IUP head coach Andrew McGlashen said. "They have been playing lights out the entire week, peaking today with the best performance I've seen from them."
