BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – The IUP women's tennis program showed well on the opening day of the Husky Invitational, hosted by Bloomsburg, on Friday afternoon.
Overall, IUP combined to go 5-1 in doubles action and 3-4 in singles play.
In doubles, junior Irawan "Ming" Deewajee and junior
Dani Ramos split their doubles action on the day, falling to NCAA DI St. Francis (Pa.) 4-6 before beating another pairing from St. Francis (Pa.) by a 6-0 margin.
Senior
Katy Graydon and senior
Lydia Vlachou racked up a pair of doubles victories against NCAA DI opponents, knocking off St. Francis, 6-1, before sweeping Rider at 6-0.
Graduate student
Alexis Cramer and freshman
Hannah Beitat finished the opening day of doubles action with a 6-2 win against Mercyhurst and a 6-2 win against St. Francis.
In singles play, Deewajee (6-4, 6-2), Vlachou (7-5, 6-2) and freshman
Lina Teleshun (6-0, 7-5) all posted victories against Rider.
