IUP women's basketball looks to start a new winning streak, continuing divisional play this week at Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday (January 17) before hosting Edinboro on Saturday (January 20). Remaining ninth in the D2CSC Atlantic Region Poll, the Hawks couldn't overcome a slow start in a 68-52 setback to No. 3/4 Gannon on January 13.
Rahmena Henderson is sixth in the PSAC in scoring (16.8), while IUP is second in the conference and 16th nationally in scoring defense (55.8) entering the week. The balanced Hawks feature five players averaging 8.6 points/game or better this season.

The IUP men's basketball team rolls along with divisional play this week, visiting UPJ before hosting Edinboro in the second half of a doubleheader each contest. IUP fell behind early in an 84-58 setback to No. 20/14 Gannon last time out, entering the week third in the league standings.
Ethan Porterfield was named to the Bevo Francis Top 100 Watch List earlier this week, recognizing the top players from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA. The Hawks rank third in the conference in scoring defense (66.6), while Porterfield is seventh in the league in scoring (17.9).
Garvin Clarke returned to the IUP lineup, now third in the PSAC in assists/game (5.3) and assist/tunover ratio (+2.03).
M/W INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Returning for the first time in 2024, the IUP indoor track & field team will send a group of student-athletes to the Youngstown State Collegiate Invitational, taking place January 19. Idle for over a month, last competing on December 9 at the Susquehanna Early Season Invite, the Crimson Hawks will look to shake off some rust before getting back into a regular competition schedule ahead of the indoor conference championships.
Through limited action in two meets, Kendall Branan is seventh in the Atlantic Region in the 400m (49.22) with
Bryna Kelly ranked 11th in the region in the 60m hurdles (9.20). In the field, first-year standout
SahBri Hill is fifth in the region with an NCAA Provisional mark in the triple jump (14.46m), while
Ella Evans is tied for seventh in the high jump (1.57m).

The IUP swimming & diving teams return for a busy weekend of competition at the Keystone Aquatics Center on January 19-20. Following a training session down in Florida, the Crimson Hawks have been ramping back up in the new year, set for their first action since December 9 in a tri-meet against Clarion and Frostburg State.
IUP is 4-1 in dual meets this season on the men's side, while the women's squad heading into January with a 3-2 mark. Both squads will face Bloomsburg in a dual meet on January 19 before "hosting" a two-session competition on January 20 at the eventual site of the 2024 PSAC Championships.
With a young roster continuing to grow in 2023-24 for head coach Chris Villa, IUP got some strong contributions in its last meet from first-year competitors.
Summer Esson and
Tyler Uhlig posted a pair of wins each with
Kasha Stokes adding a victory in the 100 back last time out. Stalwarts
Luke Mikesell and
Athanasios Diamantidis were also victorious for the IUP men on December 9, recording first-pace showings in the 200 free (1:41.63) and 100 back (56.44), respectively.
