IUP football welcomes five mid-year transfers to 2024 squad

INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP football program welcomes five mid-year transfers to the 2024 roster, head coach Paul Tortorella announced.
 
Expected to field one of the largest spring rosters in program history in 2024, the mid-year additions began classes at IUP for the spring 2024 semester.
 
The incoming transfers consist of three offensive players and two on the defensive end. Bio capsules for each midyear are below.
 
Garrett Cox
LB | 5-11, 230 | Avondale, Pa. / Kennett Square (Millersville)
>> AFCA All-America First Team LB in 2023
>> D2CCA Second Team All-America, Don Hansen Second Team All-America in 2023
>> Became Millersville's first All-American selection since 2000; started in 32 career games 
>> Cliff Harris Award finalist; D2 Top 100 selection and First Team All-Region
>> Three-time PSAC Scholar Athlete (2021, 2022, 2023)
>> Two-time All-PSAC East First Team (2022, 2023)
>> Nine games with 10+ tackles in 2023; season-high 14 stops at Slippery Rock (9/16/23)
>> Career: 32 GP, 246 Tackles (136 Solo), 36 TFL, 14.5 Sacks, 9 PBU, 3 FR, 1 FF, 1 Int
>> Teammates with fellow transfer Quadir Jacobs
>> Majoring in biology with a minor in exercise science; cumulative GPA of 3.3  
>> Transfers to IUP with one year of eligibility remaining
>> Two-way player at Kennett HS: all-conference as a linebacker and running back
>> Tallied 3,410 rushing yards and 40 touchdowns in HS career added 263 tackles and 11 sacks defensively
 
Quadir Jacobs
DL | 6-1, 305 | Thorndale, Pa. / Coatesville (Millersville)
>> Played in 11 games along the defensive line over two seasons at Millersville (2022-23)
>> Career: 15 Tackles (6 Solo), 3.0 TFL, 1.0 Sack
>> Four tackles, 0.5 TFL at Kutztown (10/28/23)
>> Teammates with fellow transfer Garrett Cox
>> Majoring in sports management
>> Transfers to IUP with two years of eligibility remaining
>> Helped Coatesville to three Ches-Mont League championships, one district title and one district runner-up finish
>> Two-year starter on both the offensive and defensive lines at Coatesville
 
Kaleb Monaco
RB | 5-10, 196 | Pocono Pines, Pa. / Pocono Mountain West (Bloomsburg)
>> Played in 31 games over three seasons at Bloomsburg (2021-23); missed just one game throughout three-year career
>> Three-time All-PSAC East Second Team tailback (2021, 2022, 2023)
>> Dynamic option in the rushing, receiving and the return game
>> Set career highs at Bloomsburg in carries (187), yards (952) and touchdowns (6) in 2023
>> Ranks 13th in Bloomsburg history with 2,172 career yards in three seasons
>> Ran for 100+ yards eight times at Bloomsburg; three times in 2023
>> Ran for 163 yards on 22 carries against Millersville (11/6/21)
>> Posted 149 rushing yards on 16 carries against Edinboro (9/16/23)
>> Career: 32 GP, 2,172 Rush Yards, 399 Rec Yds, 11 Total TD, 4.7 AVG, 67.9 Rush Yds/Game
>> Majoring in business management at IUP

Trenten Smith
WR | 5-11, 170 | New Cumberland, Pa. / Cedar Cliff HS (Clarion)
>> Appeared in 15 games over two seasons at Clarion (2022-23)
>> Recorded 24-yard receiving score against Lock Haven (9/16/23)
>> Career: 19 Rec, 181 Yds, 1 TD, 22 Rush, 55 Yards
>> Majoring in supply chain management at IUP; 3.92 cumulative GPA
>> Transfers to IUP with two years of eligibility remaining
>> Three-sport athlete at Cedar Cliff HS (football, basketball, track & field)
>> All-Sentinel First Team
>> Posted 59 receptions for 947 yards at Cedar Cliff
 
Eli Lingenfelter
WR | 6-1, 185 | Martinsburg, Pa. / Central HS (St. Francis)
>> Appeared in one game during redshirt freshman season at St. Francis (Pa.) in 2023
>> Three-time District XI champion, two-time state semifinalist at Central HS
>> Tied state record with 27 receiving TD as a senior; two-time First Team All-State selection
>> Tallied 162 receptions for 2,887 yards and 32 TDs at Central
>> Majoring in mathematics at IUP
>> Transfers to IUP with four years of eligibility remaining
