INDIANA, Pa. – IUP (14-8, 4-4 PSAC) struggled to maintain their leads and ultimately fell to first-place Gannon (16-5, 8-0 PSAC) on Tuesday evening at the KCAC. The match ended with set scores of 23-25, 20-25, and 15-25.
Gannon started strong but IUP quickly tied the score at 8-8. IUP then surged ahead, establishing a six-point lead at 15-9. However, Gannon responded with three kills, launching its own five-point run to even the score at 15-15. Gannon then dominated the remainder of the set, going on an eight-point run to lead 23-17. Despite IUP's late push with six more points, they fell short, losing the set 25-23.
In the second set, IUP took an early 3-0 lead, but the teams traded points throughout. IUP managed to tie the score at 10-10 after a four-point run, and the teams exchanged ties six more times. However, Gannon eventually seized control, closing the set 25-20.
The third set saw IUP unable to gain an advantage. Gannon dominated with a seven-point run followed by another five-point run, closing out the match with a final set score of 20-15.
Jessica Neiman led with 10 kills and one block, while Simay Memisoglu contributed seven kills and Lauren Valentic added six. Both Bailey Flowerdew and Memisoglu recorded one service ace each.
