ERIE, Pa. -- Delaney Concannon and
Lauren Valentic were named to the All-Atlantic Regional Tournament Team, announced after the conclusion of the NCAA Atlantic Region Tournament on Saturday.
The tournament team is made up of 12 athletes from six schools. Both Gannon and Wheeling added three to the list, West Virginia State and IUP added two each, and Clarion and Shaw each had one.Â
In the first round on Thursday, the Hawks secured a three set sweep over the Rams to advance to the semifinals. Concannon led the team with 10 kills, while Valentic contributed five blocks, seven kills, a .267 hitting percentage, and a service ace.
Although dropping in Friday's semifinal's match to Wheeling in five sets, both Concannon and Valentic had exceptional performances. Concannon set a career high with 22 kills, hitting .404, and totaled 24.5 points for the Hawks. Both days she added two service aces and a block. Valentic recorded 14 kills with a .545 hitting percentage, eight blocks, and 20.0 points.
Together, Concannon and Valentic accounted for 44.5 of IUP's 88 points on Friday.
