WEST CHESTER, Pa. – IUP struggled early and could not mount a full comeback, falling to West Chester 88-80 on Saturday evening.
Christian Moore led the scoring for the Hawks with 19 points.

Luke Triggs added 12 points, four rebounds, and a block. Both
Damir Brooks and
Tyler Grove added eight points and grabbed five rebounds.

IUP shot 42.2% from the field, including nine three-pointers. West Chester connected on 44.1% of their shots and capitalized at the free throw line, scoring 22 points. The Hawks managed 19 points off Rams turnovers. The first half ended 53-42 in West Chester's favor, while IUP edged the second half 38-35.
The Hawks opened strong with back-to-back three-pointers from Sarp Furton and Moore for a quick 6-0 lead. Moore added another three at 14:21, extending IUP's advantage to 11 points.
However, West Chester responded with a 12-0 run to take a 29-26 lead at 7:22. The teams were last tied at 31 before the Rams surged ahead with an 11-2 run, closing the half up by 11 points after a late three-pointer.
Brooks sparked the second half with a tip-in, followed by Grove scoring six straight points on three consecutive baskets.
Despite West Chester building a 17-point lead with four minutes left, Triggs fueled a late IUP rally with four made free throws and two consecutive three-pointers, cutting the deficit to seven points with under a minute to play. Merraro hit a final three-pointer, but IUP ultimately fell short, 88-80.
WIth this loss, IUP fell to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the PSAC.
