INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP women's lacrosse team opened up a comfortable lead in the first quarter and never looked back in a wire-to-wire 17-10 victory against Mercyhurst on Wednesday afternoon at Miller Stadium.
IUP improves its record to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
Rylee Wilson racked up 14 draw controls, helping lead the Crimson Hawks to another balanced scoring output.
Kathryn Burke recorded four goals and two assists and
Chantal Jimenez added four goals, one ground ball and five draw controls.
Burke went over 100 career points in the victory. Jimenez is now one draw control shy of 300 for her career, already second on the school's all-time list.

Maggie Marsteller had three ground balls and two caused turnovers on the defensive end.
Maddy Schramm posted eight saves in the victory. Mercyhurst (1-5, 0-2) trimmed it back within 14-9 early in the fourth quarter just when it appeared IUP might widen the margin to beyond 10 goals.
IUP held a 23-8 margin in draw controls, posting a big advantage early that led to a big first quarter offensively. Mass pushed the Hawks ahead 6-1 with her ninth goal of the season in the opening quarter. The teams traded markers the remainder of the frame.
IUP used four straight goals to expand its lead to 13-5 in the second, capped by two tallies from Burke. The Lakers kept pace for the remainder of the third quarter and into the early stages of the fourth before the Hawks rounded out the game with three of the final four goals.
