IUP women’s tennis celebrates Senior Day with indoor victory over Wilmington (Del.)

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The IUP women's tennis program finishes out the regular season with an eight-match winning streak, knocking off Wilmington (Del.) in a 6-1 triumph on Senior Day at the Greensburg Racquet Club.

Prior to the match, the women's tennis program recognized seniors Katy Graydon, Lydia Vlachou and Alexis Cramer in a brief ceremony held inside the KCAC. After that, the Crimson Hawks make the trip to the Greensburg Racquet club before finishing out the regular season on a high note.

After hitting a lull over their Spring Break trip against top-caliber competition, the Crimson Hawks hit their stride with eight consecutive. IUP is now 12-8 overall.

Hannah Beitat and Veronica Sirci posted their seventh consecutive win with a 6-0 decision at No. 3 doubles. Dani Ramos and Ming Deewajee logged their sixth consecutive win as a duo behind a 6-3 win, claiming the doubles point.

Deewajee logged her second win of the afternoon, leading the charge at No. 1 singles with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Alva Norberg. Lydia Vlachou recorded the 61st singles win of her storied IUP career with a 6-2, 6-2 win against Marley Trifunovic.

Beitat continued her stellar play with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, clinching the match for the Hawks. Beitat is now 17-5 in singles action and 19-8 in doubles, winning her 36th combined match of the season.

Dani Ramos and Lina Teleshun finished out the match with hard-earned victories in their singles contests. Ramos needed three sets to dispatch Valentina Ivankovic by scores of 6-0, 5-7 and 6-4.

Meanwhile, Teleshun claimed a second-set tiebreaker for a 6-3, 7-6 (2).
