IUP athletics ranks tied for 39th in 2023-24 DII Learfield Directors’ Cup standings

CLEVELAND – The IUP department of athletics finished out the 2023-24 school year ranked tied for third in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and tied for 39th across NCAA Division II in the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup standings following the announcement of the final standings on Tuesday.

The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.

IUP finished second among PSAC West schools with 393 points and tied for third in the conference with West Chester.

Scoring for the Learfield Directors' Cup count 15 sports in the final DII standings, four of which must be women's volleyball and basketball and men's basketball and baseball. The next highest (11 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.

IUP had a strong spring 2024 semester that included 83 points in baseball (third nationally), 64 points in women's tennis (ninth nationally) and 56 points in men's golf (18th nationally).

The Crimson Hawks were ranked 57th following the winter release of the standings after 25 points from women's basketball, 34 points from women's swimming and 40 points from men's swimming.
