Box Score BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Reaching the doubles final of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Regionals for a second consecutive year, the IUP senior duo of
Ming Deewajee and
Dani Ramos came away victorious on Monday at Bloomsburg's Burt Reese Tennis Center.
Deewajee and Ramos capped off a strong showing across the IUP lineup at the ITA Atlantic Regionals, held September 13-16 in Bloomsburg. The duo secured the second ITA Atlantic Region doubles title in IUP's storied women's tennis history, joining the tandem of Karolin Kirchtag and
Katy Graydon (2021).
Deewajee and Ramos toppled the Slippery Rock duo of Alissa Kivi and Nicole Kempton by a final count of 6-3, 7-6 (7-1). The win secures an automatic spot in the ITA Cup for Dewajee and Ramos, held October 10-13 in Georgia.
The tandem were nationally ranked most of last season, advancing to the regional doubles championship in 2023 against a pairing from Mercyhurst. Dewajee and Ramos knocked off pairings from Fairmont State (five seed) and Charleston (four seed) before handling Slippery Rock (three seed) in the doubles championship.
Overall, IUP had six student-athletes compete in the ITA Regional Championships, moving three to the quarterfinals (final eight) in the singles draw. Ramos clawed her way to the singles draw semifinals, winning three consecutive third set super tiebreakers in impressive fashion.
Elsewhere in the IUP lineup, Lieselotte Hartlöhner and
Annemiek Sterk advanced to the quarterfinal round of the doubles draw. Complete results can be
