JOHNSTOWN, Pa. – Despite a big advantage in shots and controlling the game throughout the IUP women's soccer program finished in a scoreless tie with Pitt-Johnstown on Wednesday afternoon at Richland High School.
IUP (2-0-1, 1-0-1) posted 23 shots on the day and held a 9-2 edge in shots on goal on a soggy Wednesday afternoon on the turf playing surface at Richland High School. The Crimson Hawks registered 14 of those 23 shots in the opening half, prompting eight saves from UPJ (2-2-1, 0-2-1) goalkeeper Emma Morin.
On the flip side,
Makenna Yarrow made two stops across 90 minutes in goal for IUP. Yarrow and the IUP defense have surrendered just one goal against in three games, not conceding a goal in over 120 minutes of game action.
Hannah Scardina accounted for a game-high five shot attempts for IUP as
Emily Mannion added four more.
Avery Clanton and
Ayla Ward recorded three shots each in the scoreless decision.
The Hawks pressed early and often, prompting a stop from Morin just 13 seconds in. IUP finished the opening half with four shot attempts in the final 11 minutes, carrying the momentum out of the intermission.
