Box Score INDIANA, Pa. – The IUP women's tennis program started the 2024-25 season in style, combining for 23 victories across two days of the season-opening fall invitational at the Maple Street Courts this weekend.
Overall, the Crimson Hawks captured wins in 23 of 27 matches, going 15-3 in singles play and an impressive 8-1 across doubles action. The weekend saw success across the lineup with both
IUP has hosted a fall invitational in consecutive years since head coach Andy McGlashen came aboard. IUP joined St. Francis (Pa.), Salem (W.Va.) and Mercyhurst in this year's invitational field, where matches and draws were predetermined.
"Playing on campus for the first time is always special," McGlashen said. " The newcomers really impressed me with their ability to ability to battle from the start, while the returners picked up right where they left off last year."
Ming Deewajee combined for six wins across singles and doubles action, with newcomer
Isabelle Oikawa Torres and
Veronica Sirci adding five victories each on the weekend.
"The most impressive thing for me was the level of team chemistry already on display," McGlashen added. "We can't wait for ITA's this week."
The Crimson Hawks did not drop a singles or doubles match on Sunday, ending the team's first competition of the season on a high note. Complete results from the invitational are listed below.
