INDIANA, Pa. -- The IUP football program welcomes four mid-year transfers to the 2024 roster, head coach Paul Tortorella announced.
 
The incoming transfers consist of two offensive players and two on the defensive side. Bio capsules for each midyear transfer are below.
 
Matthew Rueve
QB | 6-4, 215 | Cincinnati, Ohio / St. Xavier HS (University of Findlay / Boston College)
>> 2024 Second Team All-G-MAC
>> GMAC Offensive Player of the Week – 2x (9/23/24 | 9/16/24)
>> Started all 11 games
>> Completed 209-342 passes for 2,646 yards and 26 TDs
>> Season high of 318 passing yards vs. Truman St. (9/7)
>> Recorded program record six passing TDs vs. Kentucky Wesleyan (10/5)
>> Season high of 69 rushing yards vs. Walsh (11/2)
>> Transfers to IUP with one year of eligibility remaining
 
Devin Whitlock
WR | 5-10, 165 | Monesson, Pa. / Bell Vernon Area HS (University of Pittsburgh)
>> Joined the Panthers as a walk on in the spring of 2023… did not play in any games and redshirted
>> Dynamic player on both sides of the ball in high school
>> Senior year as quarterback he threw for 1,023 yards and nine touchdowns and rushed for 1,189 yards and 23 touchdowns.
>> Led Belle Vernon to 10-1 record and the WPIAL Class 4A Championship Game
>> Named Pennsylvania Football Writers All-Class 4A
>> KDKA "Super 7" WPIAL Class 4A Player of the Year
>> Observer-Reporter Football Player of the Year
>> Big Eight Conference Offensive Player of the Year…named All-Big Eight as a quarterback and defensive back…selected to play in the Big 33 Football Classic
>> Transfers to IUP with three years of eligibility remaining
 
David Awuah
S | 5-10, 185 | East Stroudsburg, Pa. / Bethlehem Catholic HS (Seton Hill)
>> 2024 All-PSAC West First Team Defense
>> Totaled 59 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 10 pass break ups, 5 interceptions
>> Career: 111 tackles, 2 TFL, 7 interceptions, 13 pass breakups
>> Transfers to IUP with two years of eligibility remaining
 
Mehki Johnson
DB | 6-2, 180 | Philadelphia, Pa. / La Salle College HS (Millersville)
>> Played in 10 games
>> Totaled 20 tackles and 3 pass break ups
>> Transfers to IUP with three years of eligibility remaining
