INDIANAPOLIS — The IUP football team was one of four PSAC programs included in the first NCAA Division II Super Region One rankings released this week. The Crimson Hawks joined their last two opponents, California (Pa.) and Slippery Rock, along with PSAC East leader Kutztown.
IUP is listed with two regional losses, Ashland and the rest of the Great Midwest Athletic Conference moved to Super Region Three, but due to the Eagles being in the neighboring state, the IUP loss is still considered in-region. IUP is 5-2 through seven games and ranks second in the PSAC in scoring offense at 37.3 points per game, and second in scoring defense, allowing 18.9 points per game. Kutztown leads the league in both categories.
Graduate quarterback Matthew Rueve leads the conference with more than 2,100 passing yards and 20 touchdowns. He also ranks first in total offense at 285.6 yards per game. Senior Maurice Massey and redshirt sophomore Devin Whitlock are among the PSAC's top five receivers, combining for 152.4 yards per game and 10 touchdowns.
Senior kicker Nick Andrasi ranks sixth in the conference with 50 points, averaging just over seven points per game.
