INDIANA, Pa. – Indiana University of Pennsylvania rolled to a 4-0 victory over Edinboro on South Campus Field on Wednesday, moving to 5-1-1 in PSAC play and 7-1-2 overall.
Junior forward Elle Smith led the Crimson Hawks with a hat trick, scoring twice in the first half and once in the second. Her first came just 8:32 into the game, with a second goal at 13:37 assisted by Melody Leiva.
After halftime, Abby Caruso added a goal at 50:21 with help from Smith, and Smith closed out the scoring with her third goal at 55:42.
IUP dominated in shots, launching 14 (10 on goal) to Edinboro's five, and held a corner-kick advantage of 4-2.
Edinboro's Brianna Garey made five saves in goal, while IUP's Sarah Gatz and Kiley Hassinger combined for one save and another clean sheet.
IUP continues its strong run in conference play behind a balanced offense and suffocating defense.
The Crimson Hawks will return to South Campus Field on Saturday, Oct. 11 when the Golden Eagles of Clarion pay a visit. IUP defeated Clarion 3-0 on Sept. 20 behind a Smith brace.
