INDIANA, Pa. — The Indiana University of Pennsylvania Crimson Hawks used a dominant second and third quarter to defeat the Gannon Golden Knights 26‑6 Saturday at George P. Miller Stadium.
After a scoreless first quarter, IUP struck in the second when quarterback Matthew Rueve capped a 91-yard drive with a 9-yard touchdown run. Gannon answered later in the quarter with a 4-yard touchdown run by Rolando Perez, cutting the margin to 7‑6. IUP closed the half with a 1-yard touchdown pass from Rueve to Devin Whitlock with 22 seconds remaining to take a 16‑6 lead.
IUP extended its advantage in the third quarter when Rueve connected with Jeremiah Coleman on a 39-yard touchdown pass early in the period, making it 23‑6. A late fourth-quarter 24-yard field goal by Nick Andrasi sealed the 26‑6 outcome.
Rueve completed 37 of 50 passes for 356 yards and two touchdowns. His 37 completions is a single-game record for a Crimson Hawk, breaking the previous mark of 34, done by three different IUP quarterbacks. Maurice Massey had eight receptions for 119 yards, while Whitlock added nine catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. On the ground, Randy Washington rushed for 41 yards on four carries.
Gannon struggled to sustain offensive momentum, finishing with 176 passing yards and 93 rushing yards, while managing only eight first downs. IUP totaled 377 yards and 23 first downs.
With the win, IUP improved to 7‑2 overall and 5‑1 in conference play. Gannon fell to 1‑9 and 1‑5.
