Crimson Hawks fall to Kutztown in PSAC Quarterfinals

KUTZTOWN, Pa. — The IUP Crimson Hawks fell 5‑1 to Kutztown on Tuesday night at Keystone Field, ending a hard-fought contest that saw the Golden Bears pull away in the second half.

Kutztown struck early, taking a 2‑0 lead in the first six minutes on goals by Charlotte Rauch and Caroline McDonald. The Crimson Hawks responded in the 33rd minute when Emily Lattea converted a Taylor Serrano assist, cutting the deficit to 2‑1 and giving IUP hope heading into halftime.

The second half belonged to Kutztown. Corinne Morgan scored three goals—first at 52 minutes on an assist from Maura Day, then at 75 minutes unassisted, and finally at 86 minutes assisted by Sarah Erb—cementing the 5‑1 final.

IUP goalkeeper Sarah Gatz made five saves, keeping the Hawks in the game despite Kutztown outshooting them 12‑5 and holding a 7‑2 corner kick advantage. Lattea's goal and Serrano's playmaking were highlights for IUP, but the Hawks struggled to convert other scoring chances.

The loss drops IUP to 14‑4‑2 overall and 12‑2‑1 in the PSAC, while Kutztown improves to 13‑4‑1 overall and 11‑4‑1 in conference play. The Crimson Hawks now turn their focus to regrouping for the remainder of the regular season and preparing for the PSAC postseason.
