INDIANA, Pa. — Indiana (Pa.) powered past Shepherd in straight sets Tuesday night, earning a 25–16, 25–20, 25–11 sweep in the opening round of the PSAC Tournament at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
Delaney Concannon led IUP with 12 kills, 17 digs and three aces, pacing an attack that hit .330 as the Crimson Hawks (20-7) controlled the match from start to finish. Jessica Neiman added 11 kills and four aces, while Kyra Schmidt tallied 13 kills.
Setter Ellie Rauch steered the offense with 36 assists and 14 digs, helping IUP dominate extended rallies and out-dig the Rams 49–36.
IUP opened the first set on a 5–1 run and never trailed again, using a balanced attack from Schmidt, Potvin and Concannon to pull away late. The Crimson Hawks built a 24–15 lead in the second before holding off a Shepherd push to take a 2–0 match advantage.
The third set was all IUP, sparked by a nine-point surge that included two aces from Rauch and multiple kills from Concannon and Neiman. The Hawks hit .293 in the final frame and held Shepherd (19-10) to just five kills.
Sophia Ryan and Amya Davis each recorded six kills to lead the Rams, who hit .116 as a team.
IUP advances to the PSAC quarterfinals and continues its pursuit of back-to-back conference championships.
