INDIANA, Pa. — Teresa Maggio scored 20 points and Indiana (Pa.) used a dominant first half to beat No.. 6 Ashland 83–67 on Wednesday night at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex.
Nyshae' Weaver added 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Crimson Hawks (3–0), who jumped out to a 29–13 lead in the first quarter and shot 48 percent from the field. IUP went 9 of 20 from 3-point range and made 18 free throws.
Ellie Wilkerson scored 13 points, and Belle Bosch and Marin Miller each had nine for IUP, which outrebounded Ashland 41–27 and held the Eagles to one free throw in the game.
Corri Vermilya led Ashland (1–2) with 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including four 3-pointers. Lexi Howe scored 17, and Jenna Badali added 12.
IUP led 54–35 at halftime after hitting 10 of its first 15 shots and never allowed the Eagles closer than 12 in the second half.
The Crimson Hawks will be back on the KCAC Court on Friday as they host Chatham at 11 am.
