Lattea Scores Twice as IUP Blanks Edinboro 2-0

EDINBORO, Pa. – Sophomore forward Emily Lattea scored twice to lift IUP past Edinboro 2-0 in a PSAC women's soccer matchup Wednesday afternoon at Sox Harrison Stadium.

The Crimson Hawks improved to 14-2-2 overall and 12-2-1 in conference play, while Edinboro fell to 8-8-1 and 6-7-1 in the PSAC.

Lattea opened the scoring in the 30th minute off an assist from junior midfielder Elle Smith. The same duo connected again in the 70th minute, giving IUP a two-goal advantage it would not relinquish.

The Crimson Hawks controlled possession for most of the match, holding a 15-9 advantage in shots and a 3-0 edge in corner kicks.

Sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Gatz made four saves in nearly 70 minutes of action before Serayah Leech entered for the final 21 minutes, stopping one shot to preserve the shutout. Edinboro goalkeeper Brianna Garey finished with six saves.
