INDIANA, Pa -- The IUP women's basketball team is ranked No. 11 in Division II and will host the Mansfield Mountaineers in a PSAC crossover game Tuesday at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletics Center.
IUP is off to a 6-0 start, including wins over two top-25 opponents on the KCAC court inside Ed Fry Arena.
Nyshae' Weaver leads the Crimson Hawks with three double-doubles through the team's first six games.

>> Diligent work was done by Coach Carey and the coaching staff to retool the Crimson Hawk lineup with a total of seven new additions from the transfer portal.
Ali Hardwell (South Carolina State), Bella Bosch (Pitt-Johnstown),
Bella Peterson (Northeastern Junior College),
Teresa Maggio (Mount Vernon Nazarene),
Kamiya Dambreville (Monroe College),
Alexis Buie (Shippensburg), and
Naomi Zulueta (Delaware State) will all be appearing alongside the four returning players from the previous season for the Crimson Hawks.

Nyshae' Weaver currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 18.0 PPG, while also bringing down 9.2 rebounds per game. Weaver was one of two players in the PSAC to average a double-double last season.
>> Weaver has recorded three double-doubles this season. Two are against top-20-ranked teams, and the other is the Hawks' PSAC opener at Kutztown. Weaver is one to show up for the big games, as she has been a force and a spark plug all over the court for IUP.

Teresa Maggio is a sharpshooter from behind he arc, hitting 16 three-pointers through six games. She is shooting over 47 percent from three-point land and averaging 2.6 three-pointers per game, with a season high of 5 makes in the Hawks' PSAC opener against Kutztown. Maggio also had a career-high seven steals in that game.
>>IUP has started 6-0 for the second consecutive season, as the Crimson Hawks started 9-0 in 2024-25 before falling to Ashland in the team's tenth game of the season. IUP has beaten two ranked teams, Ashland and Fairmont State, this season. In those games, IUP has come out on top by an average of 30 points.
MANSFIELD AT A GLANCE
Mansfield enters the game with a 2-6 overall record after dropping its PSAC opener to Slippery Rock, 66-40. The Mountaineers' two victories have come against Livingstone and Bryant & Stratton, with Mansfield scoring a season-high 94 points in the win over Bryant & Stratton.
Katie Sheeler is the lone Mansfield player averaging double figures, leading the team at more than 21 points per game. KJ Gordon is the next closest scorer at nine points per contest.
SERIES HISTORY
IUP has won 20 of its 21 meetings with Mansfield, with the lone loss coming in 2003. The Crimson Hawks are on a 14-game winning streak against the Mountaineers and are 11-0 at home in the series, averaging 75.6 points per game.
SCORING WITH THE BEST
IUP is second in the PSAC in scoring through six games, averaging 81.7 points per game — 0.6 fewer than Seton Hill, the highest team.
Nyshae' Weaver leads the Crimson Hawks with 18.0 points per game. Overall, IUP has two players averaging double figures.
NOT JUST OFFENSE
The Hawks also rank among the top three in the PSAC in scoring defense, allowing just over 52 points per game through three contests. IUP holds a positive scoring differential of just under 24 points.
MESS AROUND AND GET A DOUBLE-DOUBLE
Nyshae' Weaver was one of two players in the PSAC to average a double-double last season. She has three double-doubles through six games this season, two coming against top 20 ranked teams in Ashland and Fairmont State, with the thrid coming in the PSAC Opener against Kutztown.

Teresa Maggio has started the season a perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line, leading the PSAC. She is also shooting better than 47% from 3-point range, going 16-for-34 so far this season.Maggio is averaging 2.6 three-ponters per game, with a seaosn-high of five coming against Kutztown in the Crimson Hawks last game.
